Becoming House Flippers

I never planned on flipping houses. In fact, when I was in my twenties, I had no interest in home improvement at all. My renovation skills were limited to changing a lightbulb, and even that, I didn't do very well.

That said, I guess you could say it was inevitable I would end up in real estate, as I was basically born into it. As a child I moved over 10 times (pics below). My parents love buying real estate; my mom says that buying a house is like buying a piece of art that you can live in - I love that! And, on the weekends, when our friends were playing at the park, my sisters and I were at construction sites watching our new houses being built. We'd go to the park after, but first, we learned about load bearing walls and trusses ;)

Fast forward to today, my husband and I have successfully flipped three homes to-date and are currently about to build our 4th house (holy crap)!!  But, it's not like the flips you've seen on TV; we do things a little different. We do it at our leisure, pay nothing in capital gains, we don't need an investor and we take on very little risk. Our strategy? The live-in flip.

A live-in flip is a flip performed while you live in the home. We buy houses with the intent to sell, live in the property while renovating and redecorating, then enjoy the house, and sell once the property has appreciated in value; usually every 2 years. So, yes, we are now also expert movers!

Getting my husband on-board though, took some convincing. But, after the success of our first flip, we were hooked, which brings us to today. We're about to take on our biggest project yet - designing a house and building it from the ground up!

Remember when I said I couldn't change a lightbulb? Well, let's just say things are a little different now ;)

I hope you enjoy this adventure with us. Welcome to our Pretty Little Flip.

Sandy
